Today is the birthday of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (August 28, 1749 – March 22, 1832), poet, playwright, novelist, and natural philosopher. His best known work, Faust, oft referred to as his magnum opus, took much of his literary life, a period of 57 years to complete.
