Today is the birthday of Howard Phillips Lovecraft (August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937), author. He is best known as H. P. Lovecraft, a creator of horror, fantasy, science fiction stories and the 20th century master of weird fiction. He is credited with the development of the philosophy of Cosmicism - the idea that life is really incomprehensible to man and that the universe is fundamentally alien.
